Hi Everyone, Happy New Year to you all.
I know this must have been answered already but I have done a search but can't find an answer.
So here goes. I have changed my computer and have finally transferd all the data from the old one to the new ( OS XP). I had a couple of probs with this but have managed to sort them. I have used the newest version of the software, and my receipt printer won't print but the till will open. So I thought I would use the default printer (Epson stylus office B1100) the receipt will print but the till drawer won't open. Can any one help?
Thanks in advance. Regards Susan.

Since cash drawer is driven via receipt printer, switching to default will disable this. As receipt printer worked before, I would suspect that the com port is wrong (assuming serial port here). You only have choice of 1 and 2 with Solo. As it will drive the cash drawer I am puzzled by this too.

Hi Dave,
Yes my receipt printer Epson TM-300B uses serial port ( not USB ). I have used the same settings (ESC/POS on com1) as with the old computer but receipt not printing, it was printing on the old computer. I have tried all the other settings and drawer wont open or print.

Hi Dave,
I have found out why the receipt wasn't printing. It was the new option you have put in, on the receipt always option. In the box at the side of it was the number 100. I have now altered this to 1 and low 'n' behold I can print receipts.
Thanks to the forum and hours last night reading thread after thread I am now sorted.
I do have one thing I have noticed while I was testing. When doing a refund, for some reason when I enter 0 as cash tendered to open the drawer the change show's up as double the amount of the refund it's self. Hope this makes sense.
Regards Susan

The 100 means that it will only print a receipt automatically if sale was greater than ?100. Should still print if you press F10 (Print in Pro). Will look at fault in Return.

Hi Dave, I found that out eventually :0 ... ( it does take time to sink in)
Most of my customers don't want a receipt, I end up throwing them in my bin so I like this new option.
How are you doing on the little problem with refunds, have you any ideas. There is no rush I was just wondering how you are getting on.
Regards Susan

I was just about to look at it when I read this post. I have tried a return of -a50, 50p of zero rate goods, and found the receipt was correct - change was 50p. Tried this with b and found the same. Either this is somehow specific to your setup, or there is something missing from your description of the fault. You are aware that receipts can be printed only when requested?

Yes I am aware I can now print a receipt only when requested, that feature wasn't in my last copy of the software and for me it is a grate addition, thanks.
The refund problem only started with this new down load.
I loaded the new addition of the software onto the new computer.
I don't know if this was the correct way to do this or not but I copied the files from the old computer, these were Backup, Backup2 and the till file then pasted them into the new software.
I then did a small sale for a test (I used a product code) then refunded it to keep the till correct, that's when I noticed the problem. I am sure it is something I have done but can't figure out how to correct it.
Regards Susan

I looked again and this time I see the fault occurring. Thanks for being patient. Fixed with new download. What you did is fine, but all you need to do is to install the new version without deleting the old version and everything will be intact. Most times you can just install the update which is a smaller download. Always wise to keep previous installation, just in case.

Wow Dave that was fast, thank you. I will update when I'm at the shop tomorrow. I felt sure it was something I had done wrong. Didn't expect you to sort it out so quick. I will keep you informed on how I get on. You really are the Bee's knees Thanks.
