would you consider at some point stock location: 1)within the store Aisle , Shelf, position  2)store 1, store 2, warehouse.

reasons:

1) infrequent staff eg me in my wife's shop could have a pointer to find things.
2) Stock taking could be done by physical location.
3) multiple store / locations could have common stock control and an easy way to find things.

best solution probably involves hanging another table from sku to keep stock quantity at various locations.

do you like the idea ? almost certainly not for v 0.x but consider for1.x

The real problem with such an idea is that it requires more information to be input and it is hard enough to get retailers to enter information at the best of times. To have location in stock room leads one to start maintaining a different stock level and then on to duplicate stock takes, and issuing stock from stock room to shop floor. All of which makes sense in a larger organization, or one with one stock room servicing two or more shops.

the initial idea was just a single aisle ,shelf, position which would easily add into stock, then I remembered the feature for multiple products on one stock so thought should one have shelf locations attached to products,  then thought what if you have an item in two or more places within the shop and realised that a small sstep takes you to multi site.

to use a shelf / site table  joined to stock could be implimented and used at any level a default location stockID,Site,Aisle,Shelf,Position, stocklevel Values n,1,1,1,1,x would give the same as current with easy extension of functionality later if required.

the basic idea though is based on, "where did they put that small item?" that alone would be a help
